Du Toitskloof Red Muscadel 2015 reaps another award this Saturday night at the Veritas Awards, making it one of the most awarded Du Toitskloof wines this year, along with our premium wine; Quest Heroes Journey 1 2012 Bordeaux style blend.

The Veritas Awards also known as the “Oscars” of the wine industry of South Africa is recognized as one of the most prestigious wine and brandy competitions in Africa.

Having started in 1991 with 81 entries, the 28th annual Veritas Awards this year saw a record number of 1 677 entries in total with 50 double gold medals awarded. More than 120 international and local judges come together every year to judge the entries blind in panels that consist of seven experts judging 10 wines/brandies at a time.

Earlier this year the Red Muscadel 2015 was awarded Platinum at the Muscadel Awards for the 3rd consecutive year and was also awarded a Gold medal at IWSC 2018 a couple of weeks ago. Limited stock of this Veritas Double Gold awarded 2015 vintage is being sold at the cellar door for R120.00* per bottle.

Winemaker Willie Stofberg’s Quest Heroes Journey 1 2012 was awarded Gold at Veritas after also receiving Gold last weekend at the Michelangelo Awards and shows that this Bordeaux style blend (76% Cabernet Sauvignon / 12% Merlot / 12% Petit Verdot) has a beautiful aging potential.

Silver was awarded to our special Cape Blend, Selected Vineyards Dimension Red 2015. This bottle of wine is 35% Shiraz, 25% Pinotage, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon which is a wonderful play on French Bordeaux and Rhône styles with that splash of South African flavour.

Congratulations to our Chief Production Manager and winemaker Shawn Thomson and his team; Tiaan Loubser, Mathilda Viljoen and Sarlé Kenny for their attention to detail resulting in these wonderful awards.
