Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé under ABSA's Top 5

Every year the Pinotage Association opens entries for the Perold ABSA Cape Blend and Pinotage Rosé wines from South Africa. After taking a position in 2021 as one of the Top 5 Pinotage Rosés tasted in the competition, Du Toitskloof comes back this year with their 2023 vintage to claim the coveted position once again.

Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé is currently the largest selling cultivar rosé in South African retail and it is no wonder why. Grapes from the Breedekloof are well known for their fruity characteristics and the Pinotage varietal is this wine region's most planted red grape for winemaking.

This year Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé has been a consistent winner in all things rosé this year. At the Veritas Awards the wine was awarded 93 points and was the only rosé to walk away with a Double Gold Medal from the competition this year.

Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé 2023 was just awarded a Gold Medal at the recent Michelangelo Awards and a Gold Medal from the international panel at Gilbert & Gaillard earlier this year proving that this wine over delivers at a cellar door price point of R75.00.

The wine is made from selected trellised and bush vines that are grown in alluvial soils in the Breedekloof with grapes being picked only when reaching optimum physiological ripeness. Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé 2023 is light pink in colour with raspberry, strawberry, red berry and tart cherry flavours that carry through to a perfectly balanced and dry palate.

Take away from Errieda Du Toit's pen on our cuisine for Du Toitskloof Pinotage Rosé: "Striking an easy friendship with just about anything, Pinotage Rosé loves rosy-hued food: salmon trout, hot prawns and ice cold watermelon, rosy Karoo lamb with slow roasted beetroot. For sweet endings nibble on mosbolletjie toast, fresh figs, fynbos honey and camembert or go for pink-on-pink berry trifle layered with pomegranate pearls."
