Quest wins Gold and Best Packaging at USA Wine Ratings 2021
USA Wine Ratings judge according to three categories: Quality, Value and finally Design and Packaging. To win a USA Wine Ratings award, a wine needs to score highly in all three categories of the judging criteria – so a consumer will know that when they purchase wine with a high USA Wine Rating, it tastes as good as it looks as good as it costs. This year Quest One 2018 was awarded 3 Top Awards; Best Wine of the Year by Packaging, Best SA Wine in Show and a Gold Medal (93 points).
Wines from 24 countries were submitted into the 4th edition of the USA Wine Ratings with 32 American judges ranging from qualified Master of Wine, Sommeliers, Wine Product Developers and Wine Buyers. The inclusion of so many high-profile judges ensured that wines awarded medals in the competition were those with a high degree of commercial appeal.
Sid Patel, CEO and Founder of Beverage Trade Network, emphasized the importance of finding wines that score highly across all three categories rather than just one, “We feel that it offers a broad, comprehensive approach to evaluating wines the same way that consumers and trade buyers do.”
“Increasingly, consumers are thinking of wines as brands, just like they would any other product they find in a supermarket,” said Patel. “That’s why it was so important to include Packaging & Presentation as key judging criteria - it means that the wine is being created with a specific type of customer or demographic in mind.”
Our other award-winning wine was Quest Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2020 with a Gold Medal (90 points) which aligns with two other top 2021 awards; 90 points at Decanter World Wine Awards 2021 and Gold (90 points) at London Wine Competition earlier this year.
Winemaker Willie Stofberg was smiling when he heard the news, “I’m so happy that our Quest wines have finally received recognition for their beautiful design elements as well. We were very proud to have the wine rated as among the top Cape Bordeaux styles in South Africa for two consecutive years by the SA Winemag Team – so it feels as if it is all coming together and that Quest is ready to be enjoyed on an international stage.”
