“different folds” by madeleine du toit

The ancient art of paper folding dates back to the 15th century Japan. Originally, paper folding was practiced by monks for spiritual and celebratory purposes. Every origami starts off as a square piece of paper. Depending on the patterns of folding, unfolding and moulding, a beautiful figure is created.
For me origami symbolizes every woman’s journey towards finding their own unique identity.
We all start out as tiny embryos in the womb. As we travel on life’s tremendous journey, we are folded and moulded. Each fold leaves its mark to finally create a unique and beautiful woman with a unique and beautiful soul.
As a soon-to-be mother to a daughter, I am intrigued and curious to witness the unique Origami she will become.
